Nuts Ideal for Managing Weight
Hesitant to include nuts in your weight-loss diet because you’ve heard they’re high in fat and calories? Don’t be. Researchers have been gathering evidence for a while that nuts don’t contribute to weight gain. Now, new studies from Loma Linda University and Louisiana State University have declared nuts innocent when it comes to weight gain. In fact, they found the opposite to be true—people who eat nuts tend to have lower BMIs (Body Mass Index, a measure of body weight relative to height) and smaller waist measurements.

The trick to keeping a resolution is to not go full force, but to keep each resolution manageable. Instead of letting your resolution make you (figuratively) nuts, go (literally) “nuts” about your resolution! Yes, I mean literally, nuts!

USDA Says Pecans Top Antioxidant Nut

According to the USDA, pecans possess more antioxidant activity than any other tree nut. Antioxidants are naturally occurring substances, such as the polyphenolics found in pecans. They keep in check the potentially harmful effects of free radicals, reactive oxygen species which the body produces from normal metabolism and that are also encountered in the environment.

Just in time for National Georgia Pecan Month, Georgia pecans were recently featured on “The Daily Buzz,” a nationally syndicated television program airing on The CW Network. Registered dietitian, nutritionist and “Diet Diva” Tara Gidus appeared on the morning segment serving up a warm and hearty Toasted Georgia Pecan Breakfast Bowl.

AntioxiNUT Advisory Board Touts Pecans at Dietitian Conference
The Georgia Pecan Commission unveiled the AntioxiNUT campaign at the American Dietetic Association’s Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo this past September in San Diego to a targeted audience of more than 6,000 dietitians and nutritionists and 8,500 health professionals. This was by far the largest attendance for this conference since the Commission began exhibiting in 2007.
