New Year’s resolutions sound like wonderful ideas—until, of course, you realize you can’t fit them into your busy schedule. The trick to keeping a resolution is to not go full force, but to keep each resolution manageable. Instead of letting your resolution make you (figuratively) nuts, go (literally) “nuts” about your resolution! Yes, I mean literally, nuts!

USDA Says Pecans Top Antioxidant Nut

According to the USDA, pecans possess more antioxidant activity than any other tree nut. Antioxidants are naturally occurring substances, such as the polyphenolics found in pecans. They keep in check the potentially harmful effects of free radicals, reactive oxygen species which the body produces from normal metabolism and that are also encountered in the environment.

Georgia Pecans Make a BUZZ
Just in time for National Georgia Pecan Month, Georgia pecans were recently featured on “The Daily Buzz,” a nationally syndicated television program airing on The CW Network. Registered dietitian, nutritionist and “Diet Diva” Tara Gidus appeared on the morning segment serving up a warm and hearty Toasted Georgia Pecan Breakfast Bowl.

Antioxidants in Pecans May Contribute to Heart Health & Disease Prevention
A new research study from Loma Linda University demonstrates that naturally occurring antioxidants in pecans may help contribute to heart health and disease prevention; the results are published in the January 2011 issue of The Journal of Nutrition.

AntioxiNUT Advisory Board Touts Pecans at Dietitian Conference
The Georgia Pecan Commission unveiled the AntioxiNUT campaign at the American Dietetic Association’s Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo this past September in San Diego to a targeted audience of more than 6,000 dietitians and nutritionists and 8,500 health professionals. This was by far the largest attendance for this conference since the Commission began exhibiting in 2007.
